A field guide to pricing pages.

The Pricing Atlas is a reference library of the pages where leading SaaS companies turn products into revenue. Every page is captured full-length at desktop width, so you see the whole argument a company makes, from the hero to the FAQ, exactly as a buyer would.

Each capture carries a read of the page by our in-house strategist and a set of annotations pinned to the screenshot. Filled notes mark practices worth borrowing. Outlined notes go under the hood: what a choice reveals about how the company prices.

How does Okta pricing work?

The user is the value metric and the suite is the package. Starter bundles 'Single Sign-On', 'Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)', 'Universal Directory' and '5 Workflows'. Essentials adds Adaptive MFA, Privileged Access, Lifecycle Management, Access Governance and '50 Workflows', and the comparison table marks it 'MOST POPULAR'. Professional adds Device Access, Identity Threat Protection and 'Maximum Workflows', and Enterprise extends to API Access Management, Access Gateway and Machine-to-Machine Tokens. The FAQ sets the rule that holds it together: 'Suites follow a unified model where all products share the same number of subscriptions', with exceptions for Workflows, Privileged Access and Machine-to-Machine tokens.

What does Okta's pricing page do well?

  • The 'WHAT ARE YOU SECURING?' tab switch separates Workforce Identity from Customer Identity and links to Auth0 pricing before any price appears
  • Starter prints '$6 per user/month*' with a self-serve 'Start free trial', a 30-day trial with no commitment
  • The Compare Plans header shows all five suites, prints $6, $14 and $17, and flags Essentials as 'MOST POPULAR'
  • The FAQ explains how seats are counted across a suite and defines the Privileged Access Resource Unit with a worked example
  • 'Choose your next step' offers 'Start a free trial', 'Watch a demo' and 'Talk to an expert', each with a one-line description

What does Okta's pricing page reveal about its pricing strategy?

  • A unified license count across a suite keeps seat math simple: every product in the suite covers the same users
  • ADD-ON cells let a buyer bring one advanced capability into a lower suite, a path to expansion without a full tier change
  • Privileged Access licensed in Resource Units prices infrastructure access on its own unit, apart from the user seat
  • Annual billing with a '$1,500 annual contract minimum' sets a contract floor that fits a product deployed company-wide
  • Core Essentials at $14 sits between Starter and Essentials, a lighter rung for buyers who are 'Not ready for advanced security and compliance?'

Okta states that "Resource Units are how Privileged Access is licensed", covering privileged identities such as Privileged Access admins along with resources like servers, SaaS applications, and Active Directory accounts. Users can also store an unlimited number of secrets, such as passwords, API keys, and tokens.

Can I buy a single Okta product or add licenses for just one product in my suite?

Yes, Okta says "Almost all of our products can be purchased individually or added to any suite", and the Compare Plans table marks many capabilities as ADD-ON for lower suites. When expanding seats, buyers typically add more suite licenses, because "all products share the same number of subscriptions" within a suite. Workflows, Okta Privileged Access, and Machine-to-Machine tokens are the listed exceptions with their own counts.

What support comes with an Okta Workforce Identity suite?

All Okta suites include introductory training and online support, available 24 hours per day, five days per week. For more comprehensive help, Okta Premier Success Plans are available for purchase, offering expertise and support tailored to the complexity of a customer's environment.
