A field guide to pricing pages.

The Pricing Atlas is a reference library of the pages where leading SaaS companies turn products into revenue. Every page is captured full-length at desktop width, so you see the whole argument a company makes, from the hero to the FAQ, exactly as a buyer would.

Each capture carries a read of the page by our in-house strategist and a set of annotations pinned to the screenshot. Filled notes mark practices worth borrowing. Outlined notes go under the hood: what a choice reveals about how the company prices.

How does PostHog pricing work?

Every product carries its own value metric and its own free allowance: '1M events' for analytics, '5K recordings' for session replay, '1M requests' for feature flags, '100K exceptions' for error tracking, '1500 responses' for surveys, '1M rows + FREE historical' for Sources, '10 GB ingested' for logs, and credit bundles for AI products, such as '500 credits (worth $5)' for PostHog AI. Logs add a second metric for storage, 'GB-months kept for Logs custom retention', where 'each GB costs $0.05 for every month you keep it' beyond the 14-day default. Packaging is two states rather than tiers. Free is 'No credit card, not a trial' with '1 project, 1-year data retention' and community support, and Pay-as-you-go keeps 'Same free tier every month' and adds unlimited usage, '6 projects – up from 1', '7-year data retention – up from 1 year' and 'Email support – or Slack over $2k/mo'.

What does PostHog's pricing page do well?

  • Per-unit rates printed to six decimals, '$0.000198 each after the first 1M', with sliders that update an estimated total
  • 'Set billing limits' is the paid card's primary button, and the card states 'Most products get their own billing limit'
  • The Free state reads 'No credit card, not a trial' and stops usage at the limits, with an allowance that 'Resets monthly'
  • Logs custom retention is priced with its scope spelled out: 'each GB costs $0.05 for every month you keep it' and 'Billing limits don't cap Logs custom retention.'
  • Onboarding help carries a printed price: 'Get 30 minutes with a PostHog expert for $80'

What does PostHog's pricing page reveal about its pricing strategy?

  • A free allowance per product lets a team adopt the suite one tool at a time, and spend grows with each product that crosses its allowance
  • Billing limits on most products make a metered suite safe to try, and Logs custom retention sits outside them because it bills for 'the data you keep, not this month's usage'
  • Identified and anonymous events carry different rates, pricing the data by the value it holds for the customer
  • One organization-wide allowance covers every project, 'combined into one bill with one free allowance', so the six paid projects expand structure while the meter stays per organization
  • Platform packages, volume discounts and paid onboarding sit above the meter as the commercial layers for larger accounts

Your charges stay within the limit you set, with Logs custom retention as the one stated exception.

Does PostHog offer discounts for startups and nonprofits?

Yes, the pricing page states "We also offer discounts for startups and non-profits". Nonprofits create an account and contact the sales team with some basic details on the organization, and PostHog then applies a discount.
